Newark, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a dump truck at a Newark intersection on Saturday evening, November 7, 2009, announced the Star-Ledger.
Police reported that the pedestrian was walking through the intersection of McCarter Highway and Miller Street around 8:30 p.m. Only moments earlier, another pedestrian was killed by a pickup truck at the other end of the city.
Police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to investigate. EMS transported the injured man to University Hospital where he was treated by doctors and nurses for his life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian remained unidentified. The driver of the dump truck stayed at the scene of the incident, but has not been charged for the crash at this time.
The other pedestrian that was killed in Newark on the same night had been struck by a pickup truck and suffered fatal injuries. The accident took place at the intersection of Broadway and Irving Street. Police detectives continue to investigate both of the unrelated incidents.
