California Highway Patrol alerts California SUV accident attorneys- A Ford Explorer SUV rollover ejected and killed a young boy.
San Francisco, CA—A fatal sport utility vehicle (SUV) rollover ejected a 7-year-old boy who was traveling in the cargo area of the SUV. The 1995 Ford Explorer rolled over on Highway 580 (I-580) on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 around 3:50 p.m., just west of Benedict Driver off-ramp in San Leandro, as reported by The San Francisco Chronicle.
A 1995 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on I-580 when a tire apparently blew out, which may have caused the driver to loose control. The SUV rolled over and ejected a 7-year-old boy from the vehicle. The boy and another 14-year-old teen, were reportedly riding in the back cargo area of the SUV, which does not have seatbelts. Several other drivers witnessed the crash and pulled over to help lift the SUV back onto its tires. Soon after up-righting the vehicle, the 7-year-old boy was discovered underneath the SUV. The young boy was rushed to Oakland Children’s Hospital for treatment. He was pronounced dead soon after arrival by doctors and nurses. Six additional people traveling in the SUV, which was only designed to transport five, were transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley for treatment of their non-life threatening injuries. The Ford SUV reportedly was traveling nearly 70 mph when the tire blew out. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal accident.
