Killingly, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – The Occupational Safety and Health administration (OSHA) www.OSHA.gov investigated a scaffolding collapse that injured three workers on Wednesday morning, November 11, 2009, announced the Norwich Bulletin.
Emergency medical services (EMS) reported to the scene off Soap Street in Dayville, where the accident took place. Police reported that the scaffolding accident occurred at 9:30 a.m. Three workers suffered minor injuries from the accident when scaffolding collapsed at the site of the future high school, officials said.
Police reported that scaffolding gave way, and two of the workers were able to jump free from the scaffolding before it fell 24 feet below. One of the workers continued to fall to ground below with the scaffold. The scaffold crashed on the ground and did not land on any of the workers. EMS transported the three workers via ambulances to be treated by doctors and nurses at Day Kimball Hospital located in Putnam. Their condition was not reported.
State police and OSHA officials responded to the accident.The labor department and representatives from the constructions firm, Gilbane, were contacted with no response. Firefighters reported to the scene of the accident.
