Newburgh, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A police man was injured when his squad car collided with two school buses, that were transporting students on Route 32 on Thursday, November 12, 2009, announced the Mid-Hudson News.
The police squad car and the two school buses were heading north on Route 32, when the wreck took place on North Plank Road in Newburgh. Police identified the injured policeman as Officer Thomas Canavan, who was reportedly injured in the accident.
The afternoon crash occurred around 3 p.m. when the Newburgh Town police officer, and several students of Newburgh Free Academy who were on board the buses were injured.
The students and the police officer were transported to the hospital for injuries via ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie and St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses.
The vehicles were significantly damaged. One of the school buses front wheels was ripped off in the crash. The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit was investigating the scene of the crash to determine how it occurred.
