Long Island, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – Four pedestrians were injured when a speeding vehicle struck and injured them on Monday, November 16, 2009, announced Long Island Press.
Suffolk County police reported to the scene in Brightwaters on Concourse East, where they found two of the four injured pedestrians in need of serious medical attention. Police reported that the four people had been walking alongside the road on Concourse East, when a northbound 1996 Ford Taurus struck all four victims.
Suffolk County officials reported that the driver of the Taurus, identified as 73-year-old Doris Rullo, had been driving down the road around 5:20 p.m., near South County Road. The four pedestrians were identified as Cathy Benjamin, 58, Donald Marran, 65; Rosemary Pappacoda, 66; and Diane Ulrich, 52, who were victims of the crash.
Two of the four pedestrians, 65-year-old Donald Marran and 66-year-old Rosemary Pappacoda, suffered serious injuries in the accident. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived to treat and transport the victims to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center located in West Islip. Official reported that Marran was placed in serious condition due to his chest trauma and multiple broken bones. Pappacoda was stable with multiple reported fractures.
The two less injured victims, Diane Ulrich, 52 and Cathy Benjamin, 58, were treated by doctors and nurses then released from Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.
Suffolk County police reported that Rullo remained unharmed in the accident. Police continue to investigate the serious accident.
