California construction accident lawyer alerts- A crane fell on a Santa Rosa, CA home.

Santa Rosa, CA—A crane fell over and split a Santa Rosa home completely in half while it was removing a large tree from the families yard on Monday, November 16, 2009. The home, located on Molly Court, has since been deemed inhabitable by officials, as reported by KTVU.

According to police officials, a 100,000-pound crane was removing a 150-year-old dying oak tree that posed a threat to the home and residents. Thankfully, the residents and two children of the home were not there at the time. The heavy machinery toppled over and sliced through the middle of the home the residents just bought three months earlier. The weight of the largest section of the tree caused the crane to topple over on the home. By late Tuesday two other cranes were able to lift the collapsed crane from the inside of the destroyed home. The fallen crane reportedly belongs to Reliable Crane and Rigging. The home damages are reportedly going to be covered by insurance for the crane and tree removal companies. It is unknown if police officials are conducting an investigation into the accident. Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov are expected to arrive at the scene.
