Personal Injury Alert: 3 school children struck by swerving car

Legal news for Pennsylvania Personal Injury attorneys –A Dodge Charger crashed into 3 grade school children causing life- threatening injuries in Upper Darby, P.A.

Upper Darby, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – Two school children and another boy were violently struck by a swerving vehicle on Marshall Road, Tuesday, November 23, 2009, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The driver was reportedly attempting to move around the heavy traffic around noon, when she crashed into the two small children and then sped up and slammed into a third boy, which launched him against the wall of a building.

Police and emergency medical services (EMS) rushed to the devastating scene of the accident, where one child was in pain laying in the middle of the street, while another lay bleeding form a head wound underneath a vehicle, and the third was lay lifeless near a store’s wall.

The car continued to leave the scene and continued traveling in the eastbound lanes and crashed into a Subaru station wagon, which then struck a Mercedes-Benz. The car came to a halt 20 yards later.

Police reported that the children were rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where 12-year-old Philmon Beyene was in critical condition on a respirator in a coma. One of the other injured children, 13-year-old Jemel Brunswick along with 12-year-old Tyler Lowery were taken to another hospital for doctors and nurses to care for their life-threatening injuries.

The two seventh grade boys attended Beverly Hills Middle School and were released from classes early for the Thanksgiving holiday. The driver of the Dodge Charger that struck the children was only identified as a 42-year-old Lansdowne woman. The woman was taken in by the police and charges are pending due to investigation.
