Legal news for Pennsylvania Personal Injury attorneys – Emergency medical services transported an injured Walmart greeter to a Pennsylvania hospital after he was struck by a customer.
North Versailles, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A friendly 72-year-old Walmart greeter was working in North Versailles Walmart location when he was struck by a customer, which knocked him to the ground, on Tuesday evening, December 1, 2009, according to WPXI.
Eye-witnesses reported that there appeared to be no reason for the man to punch the elderly greeter. The Walmart greeter, identified as Thomas Jenkins, reportedly bumped into 55-year-old Paul Washington, who then punched him in the face. North Versailles police and emergency medical services (EMS) reported to the scene where Washington had left Jenkins lying on the ground.
Walmart shoppers along with a police sergeant, watched in horror at what had occurred. Washington reportedly went straight to his vehicle after hitting and severely injuring the man. Channel 11 News recorded the encounter on a surveillance camera.
EMS transported Jenkins via ambulance to UPMC McKeesport Hospital, and then he was transferred to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. He sustained broken bones on the entire left side of his face. Investigating police reported that Jenkins may have requested that Washington present his receipt earlier that week.
Police have since charged Washington for multiple offenses including assault, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal mischief, and was being held in jail. The investigation continues. It was not reported how Jenkins is doing.
