8 firefighters injured battling Maryland house blaze

College Park, MD (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A massive blaze sent eight firefighters to the hospital in College Park, on Sunday night, December 6, 2009, according to ABC 7 News.

Firefighters responded to the flaming house that once served a home to a family of five at the 7000 block of Patridge Place, around 11 p.m. Emergency medical services also reported to the scene where several firefighters were injured while combating the out of control inferno.

Witnessing neighbors looked on at the house that was quickly engulfed in flames. Authorities reported that the parents and their three children made it out alive before the flames engulfed the home.

EMS transported the eight brave firefighters to local hospitals, where they were treated by doctors and nurses for sprains, burns, lacerations and exhaustion. Officials believed that all the firefighters would survive, and not one of them was in life-threatening condition from battling the inferno.

They were all expected to recuperate. Fire Authorities reported that it took an hour to bring the fire under control. Fire officials believe that this destructive blaze was accidental. The estimated damage is an extensive $700,000.
