Pregnant woman looses baby in Minneapolis wrong-way crash

Minnesota State Patrol alerts Minnesota auto accident lawyers- A wrong direction driver caused a crash which killed a pregnant woman’s unborn child.

Minneapolis, MN—A wrong-way driver traveling on the Interstate Highway 94 ramp slammed head-on into a van carrying a family of eight. The horrific crash caused a pregnant woman riding in the van to loose her unborn child, and sent the rest of the family to the hospital, as reported by the Star Tribune.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a pickup truck was traveling in the wrong direction on Saturday night, December 5, 2009, around 11:45 p.m., at the 49th Avenue exit when the truck slammed head-on into a van. The collision caused Tao Thao, 29, to looser her eight month unborn child, which has left her in critical condition at north memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. Also traveling the van Thao’s husband, Yia Vang, 33, and their five children, ages 3-10. Emergency medical services (EMS) teams rushed the family to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. The couple’s son, Alex, Vang, 10, was reportedly in critical condition at first, but has since been reported to be in fair condition. The driver of the wrong-way pickup truck, Connie Stroud, 42, reportedly was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck. Stroud was also rushed to hospital by EMS crews in critical condition. State patrol officials reported criminal charges would likely be filed against Stroud. An investigation is underway.
