Cicero, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A female pedestrian was fatally injured when she was struck by a moving vehicle in Onondaga County, Friday evening, December 5, 2009, according to WKTV.
New York State Police reported that the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle while standing in front of a residential home. The car had been traveling along Route 298 around 7:30 p.m. when the driver struck the female who was standing in front of a house.
Emergency medical services (EMS) rushed to the scene to transport the seriously injured victim. Authorities identified the injured woman as 51-year-old Joanne Schoenfelder, who was taken by ambulance to be treated by doctors at University Hospital. Medical officials declared her to be dead shortly after arriving.
Police identified the driver of the fatal incident to be 28-year-old Leanne Doyle, resident of Canastota. It was not stated if drugs or alcohol were involved in the tragic accident. Investigating police were trying to determine if Schoenfelder had been actually in the driving lane or standing on the shoulder of the street when the car struck her. Police reported that no charges have been pressed against either person as of yet.
