Canonsburg, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A male pedestrian was fatally injured when she was struck by a motor vehicle on West Pike Street, on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pennsylvania police officials reported to the scene of the 7 p.m. accident, where the 28-year man had been crossing the street when a car suddenly hit him. Police reported that it was raining out and the street was poorly lit.
The driver had stopped at a stoplight, and the light turned green, when she struck the man who was crossing the street. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to transport the injured woman to an area hospital for treatment. The victim was identified as 28-year-old John Janda, of Washington County. EMS transported the victim to Canonsburg Hospital where medical officials declared him dead at 8:80 p.m.
Police detectives did not identify the driver in the accident. The female driver was not charged due to the fact that she probably could not see the man crossing the street in the dark and the rain. Investigators are looking into the fatal accident.
