Clarence, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — — A “Mega bus” rolled over, when it tried to change lanes as it was traveling down the New York State Thruway near Buffalo, on Thursday morning, December 10, 2009, according to WKBW.
New York state police and firefighters arrived at the scene where the crash took place at 3:45 a.m. on the Westbound interstate 90 near Clarence. There were a reported 14 people traveling on the double-level bus when it suddenly flipped over.
Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to transport the injured. Eight injured people were transported to the hospital, including seven Canadian residents. News reporters on the scene said that one victim was carried into the ambulance on a stretcher. One person suffered from a fractured collarbone and shoulder.
The other passengers on the bus took shelter in the fire engines to stay out of the bitter cold. The names of the injured were not known. News sources reported that some of the victims did sustained moderate injuries. Most of the injuries appeared minor. Police that the mega bus was owned by Coach Canada and was returning from a trip to New York City.
The bus was heading to Toronto. Police believe that the gusty winds and snowy conditions were the main contributing factors to the rollover.
