Legal news for Pennsylvania personal injury attorneys — U.S. Airman was struck and killed by a car while trimming a tree in his yard.
Cherry Hill, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – An out of control car barreled into a neighborhood resident’s front lawn where Air Force pilot and husband, was trimming a tree Monday, December 14, 2009, according to NBC Philadelphia.
The driver of the car had allegedly been going at an exceedingly high speed while traveling westbound on Route 70 when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The driver then struck the shoulder, then a utility pole and then unfortunately crashed into the homeowner trimming the tree in front of his house that morning.
Police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the tragic scene of the fatal wreck. Police identified the driver of the demolished vehicle as 41-year-old Stephen M. Moffa, resident of East Chapel Avenue in Cherry Hill. Moffa crashed violently into the tree, striking the pilot and fatally injured him at 10 a.m.
Witnesses were allegedly horrified by the brutality of the wreck. The man’s body was lying on the sidewalk where onlookers from an office building could see him. Lieutenant Jennings was a fighter pilot who had flown F-16 fighter jets over Iraq. His wife, who remained unidentified, survives him. Cherry Hill police detectives are investigating the fatal wreck.
