Middleboro, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – An accident involving a semi truck and two other vehicles critically injured two victims, Thursday, December 17, 2009, according to the Boston Globe.
Police reported to the scene of the three-vehicle wreck on Interstate 495 that shut down the southbound lanes around 8 a.m. Massachusetts State police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to discover that a 2002 Volkswagen had crashed into a stopped semi truck on the side of the highway, which caused a 2007 Toyota Corolla to swerve of the road into a forestry area.
Police identified the driver of the Volkswagen as 23-year-old Matthew Wirth. EMS transported him via medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center to be treated for his serious injuries. The driver of the Corolla was identified as 41-year-old Terrence Brady, who also suffered serious injuries and was taken via ambulance to be treated by doctors and nurses at Morton Hospital.
The operator of the semi truck was identified as 53-year-old Jerry Sanders, who remained unharmed in the wreck. State police officials continue to investigate the severe wreck as the southbound lanes were shut down from traffic flow for two hours. Lanes have since been re-opened.
