Boise, ID—A Greyhound bus and a pickup truck collided along Interstate 84, hospitalizing six people. The serious motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred around midnight on Thursday, December 17, 2009, as reported by the Idaho Press-Tribune.

According to Idaho State Police, a 2009 Ford Ranger pickup truck lost control on the wet roads while attempting to pass a Greyhound bus. The pickup truck rolled in the middle of the interstate and collided with the bus. The driver of the pickup truck was transported via life flight to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Five others, a passenger of the truck and four bus passengers, were transported by emergency medical services (EMS) teams to St. Alphonsus via ambulance for treatment of their injuries as well. The Greyhound bus was transporting 49 people to Salt Lake City when the collision occurred. Police officials believe the wet road conditions and temperatures created dangerous driving conditions at the time. Another bus was reportedly picking up the uninjured passengers to continue their trip to Utah. Police officials are conducting a full investigation into the two-vehicle crash. No charges have been filed at this time. The eastbound lanes of I-84 were closed for several hours after the wreck.
