California train accident lawyers alerts – A Metro Blue Line train hit an man and killed him in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles, CA– A Metro Blue Line train hit and killed a man in south Los Angeles on Sunday, December 27, 2009. The Metro train struck the man while he was on the tracks around 10:05 a.m., at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Vernon Avenue, as reported by KTLA.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the deceased man as Ramon Villanueva, 65, of Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced Villanueva dead at the scene of the horrific accident. It is unknown why Villanueva was on the tracks in the first place; the crossing-gate bar should have been lowered with the lights on and the bell ringing, which would have kept him from crossing. There were no reported injuries to any of the passengers aboard the Metro train, but the female operator of the train was very distraught and was being comforted by responding firefighters. It is unknown how fast the train was traveling at the time, but a governor on the train automatically slows the train to 55 mph at street crossings. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a full investigating into the fatal train accident. No charges have been filed at this time.
