Car collides with special needs bus, 8 injured

Baltimore, MD (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A serious motor vehicle accident occurred in Baltimore early Tuesday morning, December, 29, 2009, according to WBAL-TV.

Maryland police officials and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to assist the injured in the wreck. Police officials reported that a special needs bus transporting passengers collided with a small sedan at the 3200 block of Philadelphia Road.

Police authorities reported that the collision was caused by a taxi cab which had stopped on Philadelphia Road after being struck from behind. The vehicle that rear-ended the taxi then crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and struck the special needs bus. The driver of the car remained unidentified. There were eight victims who sustained injuries in the crash.

EMS transported the eight people to local hospitals to be treated for injuries. Police reported to the scene of the accident at 8 a.m. Two of the victims were transported via ambulance to the Shock Trauma. Two more victims were transported to Bayview Medical Center, while four others were transported to Upper Chesapeake to be treated by doctors and nurses for injuries. Medical officials did not release the conditions or the identities of the injured. The investigation continues.
