Baltimore, MD (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A police cruiser was speeding with sirens blaring and lights flashing, when it struck a pickup truck in North Baltimore on Sunday January 3, 2010, announced the Baltimore Sun.
Baltimore police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to assist. Responding police reported that a Ford pickup truck was pulling out of a parking lot onto York Road, when the police vehicle struck it and caused the truck to flip over onto its roof. The police car then crashed into a red Mercury Tracer and landed into the brick side of a subway building.
The wreck damaged the structure of the subway restaurant and shattered the store window. The parking lot was located at 5438 York Road, where the police officer’s white and blue Chevrolet Impala hit the truck. EMS transported the injured officer to be treated by doctors and nurses at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
Officials reported that he might have sustained a fractured ankle or leg. The injured police officer remained unidentified. The debris from the damaged vehicles involved in the wreck were scattered all over the road. Police continue to investigate the crash.
