Parsippany, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A three-vehicle collision occurred when one car failed to stop at a red light at a Parsippany intersection, Tuesday January 5, 2010, according to the Daily Record.
Police, fire rescue and emergency medical services (EMS) rushed to the scene of the motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 46 and Lackawanna Avenue. Parsippany police reported the collision occurred when 72-year-old Ronald Bernhey, of Parsippany, failed to stop at a red light in the westbound lanes at the intersection and T-boned a Honda, which then crashed into a Ford SUV at 8:09 a.m.
The driver of the Ford, 31-year-old Randell Pela, of Morris Plains, was trapped in his vehicle and was extricated by fire rescue officials. Both Pela and Bernhey sustained minor injuries in the motor vehicle collision (MVC) The Rainbow Lakes Fire District No. 2 was on the scene to assist and provide fire suppression if necessary.
Police identified the driver of the Honda as 28-year-old Cory Salvesen, of Wantage. Paramedics treated Salvesen at the scene of the crash. Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance Squad transported Bernhey to be treated by doctors and nurses at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Pela was taken for treatment at St. Clare’s Hospital located in Denville. The intersection was closed for almost an hour so authorities could probe the crash scene. Vehicles were towed from the scene. Police issued Bernhey a ticket for failure to observe a traffic signal.
