Pickup truck rear-ended Arizona school bus; 7 injured

Arizona automobile accident lawyers alerts- A school bus crash involving a Chevrolet pickup truck injured seven people.

Phoenix, AZ—A Chevrolet pickup truck slammed into the back of a small school bus on Monday, January 11, 2010, leaving seven people injured. Ten Desert Hills High School students were on board the bus when the truck hit the bus as it stopped to pick up a student near Val Vista and University Drive, as reported by AZCentral.com.

According to the Mesa fire officials, “At that time of the morning, it was dark…We do know, at least in talking to some of the students, that the bus had stopped to pick up some other students. It appears that the pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed.” The unidentified driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries in the collision, and was transported by emergency medical services (EMS) teams to Scottsdale Memorial Hospital for treatment of lower extremity injuries. The truck drivers injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The driver of the school bus and three students also reported injuries. They were also transported by EMS crews to area hospital for treatment of what has been described as “minor” injuries. The remaining uninjured students were released to their parents or to school officials. The Mesa Police Department is currently investigating the two-vehicle crash. No citations have been issued for the crash at this time.
