California personal injury attorneys alerts- Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

San Francisco Bay, CA—A pedestrian was hit and killed on Thursday, January 14, 2010 after a car struck him at the intersection of Monterey Road and 8th Street in Gilroy. The driver of the car was also injured in the collision, as reported by KCBA Fox 35.

According to police officials a blue Nissan Vera two-door car struck a 62-year-old male Gilroy resident, but it is unknown how the collision occurred. The pedestrian was rushed by responding emergency medical services (EMS) a bay area hospital for treatment, but his injuries proved fatal after arriving. The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, sustained non-life threatening injuries, and was also taken to a bay area hospital for treatment by doctors and nurses. Police officials are currently withholding the identity of the pedestrian until the family notification process has been completed. A concrete landscape wall, a metal board post, and a road sign were also damaged in the crash. The Gilroy Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is conducting the investigation. The cause of the wreck has not been determined at this time. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a cause.
