FHP investigates motorcycle crash that left one fatally injured.
Lake City, FL—A motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Jeep left one person fatally injured in the Tuesday morning, January 12, 2010 crash, reports the Lake City Journal. The fatal wreck allegedly occurred at 6:55 a.m.
The eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 47-year-old John Russel Fry was reportedly traveling on Baya Drive towards S.W. McFarlane Avenue at the same time as a westbound Jeep tried to turn left onto McFarlane. Christopher Robert Davis, 36, was driving the Jeep at the time of the incident. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports allegedly state that the turning jeep struck the front-left side of the motorcycle, subsequently sending it careening into a raised curb. Fry was allegedly thrown from his motorcycle onto a grassy portion of the southern shoulder of the roadway, only coming to a rest on the sidewalk.
It is reported only one additional passenger, 17-year-old Christopher Robert Davis Jr., occupied the Jeep at the time of the crash. None of the Jeep’s occupants were reported injured in the collision. Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene to transport Fry to Shands Lake Shore Hospital, where his injuries proved fatal upon his arrival at the medical center. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal motor vehicle collision. Charges have not yet been filed in correlation with the incident.
