Ohio State Highway Patrol investigates pickup truck crash on Ohio 39 that injured four people.
Loudonville, OH—A pickup truck crash on Ohio State Route 39 left four people injured on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, according to information provided by the Mansfield News Journal. The motor vehicle accident reportedly occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m.
An eastbound 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac pickup truck, driven by 21-year-old Justin A. Stacey, was reported traveling on Ohio 39 at Township Road when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons. The pickup allegedly veered off the right side of the road and struck a culvert. The vehicle then proceeded to hit a stop sign as well as a parked vehicle. Reports state that the parked vehicle, owned by Joseph M. Hendrick was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
There were four people reported in the pickup truck at the time of the crash. Emergency medical services (EMS) crews responded to the scene to transport the injured driver and his passengers to hospitals for treatment by doctors and nurses. Stacey as well as one of the passengers in the vehicle were allegedly taken to MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital and then airlifted via medical helicopter to Cleveland Metro Hospital. Both were reportedly placed in intensive care at the medical center. Another passenger, 21-year-old Brent D. Morris was taken to MedCentral where he was treated by medical professionals for his injuries and then released. The fourth occupant in the pickup that crashed, 17-year-old Christine N. Patterson was transported to Samaritan Hospital where she was treated and released as well. None of the pickup truck’s occupants were reported wearing their seatbelts. Also, Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) officials allegedly claim that alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck. Investigations are underway.
