NJ: Garden State Parkway crash killed two, 3 injured

Bloomfield, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A horrific three-vehicle crash injured three and the claimed the lives of two individuals on Garden State Parkway Sunday, January 17, 2010, according to NorthJersey.com.

Police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to assist the injured and to investigate. It was reported that the three-vehicle crash occurred shortly after noon when a 2002 Saab was heading traveling south on the parkway, when the driver had lost control of the vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a 2004 Nissan Sentra.

The driver of the Saab, identified as 46-year-old Ralph Ianni, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, 28-year-old Justin Jonsson, sustained serious injuries and his passenger wife, 28-year-old Liana did not survive the crash.

Justin was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center where he was treated for a potential traumatic brain injury (TBI). After the first two vehicles collided, the Nissan was rear-ended by a 2005 Toyota Camry. The driver of the Camry was identified as 55-year-old Stanley Bergman, who was traveling with his wife, 52-year-old Aliza. Both complained of back pain and were treated at the University Hospital. Police reported that the fatal accident closed the parkway for almost four hours. The investigation continues to determine what caused the fatal motor vehicle accident.
