Secaucus, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov announced the voluntary recall January 19, 2010 of Master Cutlery’s Eagle 5 Rifle Crossbows due to the hazard that the trigger can become loose.
All consumers who have purchased this defective rifles are advised to discontinue use immediately unless otherwise informed. The New Jersey-based company, Master Cutlery’s recalled 300 of the Eagle 5 Rifle Crossbows. The reported danger of these crossbows is that the trigger mechanism automatically becomes loose after firing thirty shots. With the safety mechanism in place, the crossbow will discharge on its own. The crossbows were sold to consumers online at www.fingerhut.com for the price of $100 from September 2009 through December 2009.
The defective crossbows were manufactured in Taiwan. So far, there have been no injuries reported due to use of this product. In order to further determine if you have this crossbow, it is made of black fiberglass and metal, “Eagle 5” printed on the crossbow itself, and a 120 pound draw “crossbow”.
