Legal news for Arizona automobile accident attorneys. A chain-reaction crash resulted from alleged drag racing.
Phoenix Police Department alerts Arizona automobile accident lawyers- Two pickup trucks that were drag racing likely caused a multiple vehicle crash.
Phoenix, AZ—Drag racing is suspected to be the cause of a chain-reaction crash that sent seven people to the hospital on Sunday, January 17, 2010. Witnesses reported that a green and gray pickup truck were drag racing westbound on Camelback Road, as reported by AZCentral.com
As the two trucks were allegedly racing at high rates of speed, the green truck slammed into a gray minivan that was stopped at a red traffic light on 35th Avenue. The impact catapulted the minivan into a red SUV, which consequently hit a white pickup truck. A total of seven people were injured in the chain-reaction crash, five of which were children. Three of the children were reportedly riding in the minivan and were wearing their seatbelts or in car seats at the time. All their injuries were reportedly non-life threatening. Both of the racing pickup trucks fled from the scene of the wreck, but a witness was able to write down the trucks license plate numbers. Police located the vehicles and their owners within 35 minutes of the wreck, but it is unknown if the owners were driving the trucks during the accident. The crash is currently under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department.
