Legal news for Connecticut motor vehicle accident attorneys – A family filed suit for injured boy in school bus collision.
Hartford, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A family filed a lawsuit against a company that owns the school bus that severely injured a student in the Jan. 9 collision that sent several students to the hospital, announced January, 26, 2010, according to the Hartford Courant. The family of boy claimed that the driver of the school bus and the station wagon were negligent and careless.
The upset family filed the lawsuit on Monday with their attorney in Superior Court on account of the boy’s serious injuries to his bones, muscles, nerves and chest. The boy acquired these injuries when the school bus he was riding, en route to a high school competition, on I-84, collided with a Volvo station wagon and plummeted 20-feet down an embankment killing one 16-year-old boy Vikas Parikh, and hospitalized several other students.
In the lawsuit, it was claimed that the scared and injured boy may never recover from pain and mental distress due to the horrific accident. The lawsuit also claimed that Autumn Transportation could have been better at training and supervising their employees.
The school bus driver, identified as Paul Burns, was not qualified to operate such a large bus, which he was driving the day of the accident. His license has since been suspended by the Department of Motor Vehicles. The lawsuit continues as State police and DMV officials investigate the crash, and both companies involved. There have been no charges filed by police as of yet.
