Truck Accident news: Propane tanker crash closes I-84

Middlebury, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A tanker transporting 1,500 gallons of propane collided with a delivery truck in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 Monday, January 25, 2010, according to the Danbury News Times.

Police and emergency medical services (EMS) reported to the scene on the wet roads where the leaking tanker had come to halt leaning against the guardrail after hitting the delivery truck and spun out of control. It was reported that both vehicles were traveling in the eastbound lanes going about 60 miles an hour when the tanker driver lost control going around a bend and slammed into the delivery truck Monday afternoon.

The driver of the propane tanker sustained minor injuries, and was taken to Waterbury Hospital for complaints of back pain. The driver was identified as 50-year-old Chris Meadows, who was also ticketed for speeding and operating with defective equipment. The driver of the delivery truck, identified as 34-year-old Michael Rinaldi, was issued a ticket for operating a motor vehicle without a license. Firefighters were called to the scene to assist with the leaking tanker. Eastbound traffic was rerouted due to the crash. The road was not reopened until 6 p.m.
