Minneapolis, MN– An Albert Lee nursing home and four fired aids were sued after a investigation uncovered the facility and aids were allegedly afflicting physical and sexual abuse on residents with dementia. The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in Freeborn County by four of the alleged abuse victims, as reported by Kare11.com.

In 2008 four former aids identified as Brianna Broitzman, 20, Ashton Larson, 20, Alicia Heilman, and Kaylee Nash, along with Good Samaritan Society nursing home were investigated on suspicions of abuse, and have since been named in the lawsuit. Both Broitzman and Larson were criminally charged about a year ago for groping, spanking, and spitting on numerous residents at Good Samaritan Society nursing home. In December 2008, a total six aids were formally charged with abuse. Most of the abused residents reportedly suffered from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. The criminal complaints and the Health Department reported, “the aides spat in residents’ mouths, poked and groped their breasts and genitals, and at times taunted them until they screamed, then laughed about it.” It is alleged that a total of 15 patients were abused at the nursing home. The Minnesota Department of Health reportedly never cited the nursing home after their investigating into the disturbing claims, but they were reported to have handled the situation correctly.
