Product liability lawyer alerts- Louisiana-based firm recalls product due to risk of allergic reaction, FDA announces.
Covington, LA—Cousins Products, LLC has voluntarily recalled Spinach Vinaigrette due to undeclared egg, soy, and wheat that could cause consumers with allergies or severe sensitive to these ingredients to suffer serious allergic reactions. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) http://www.fda.gov announced this voluntary recall on Thursday, February 4, 20010.
Upon inspection by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Heath, Food and Drug Unit, it was discovered that the labeling on the 16 oz. jars do not included the products egg, soy, and wheat, posing a possible allergy threat to some consumers.
According to the FDA press release, “This product is being recalled because it contains egg, soy, and wheat, and was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of these ingredients. The product is manufactured using bread crumbs which contain these allergens. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg, soy, or wheat run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.” The recalled product was sold in retail stores in Louisiana and southern Mississippi. Online retailers in Texas, Florida, Illinois and Virginia also sold the Spinach Vinaigrette product. The product was sold June 2009 until now. The firm has allegedly received no reports of illnesses as of yet.
