Chocolate marshmallow ice cream recalled for additional ingredient

Legal news for Pennsylvania product liability attorneys –Turkey Hill Dairy recalled ice cream in all Pennsylvania stores for a potential allergic reaction for consumers allergic to almonds.

Lancaster County, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — The federal agency, the Food and Drug Administration, (FDA) www.fda.gov has announced Turkey Hill Dairy’s product recall of Chocolate Marshmallow Premium Ice Cream due to the potential unlisted ingredient of tree nuts.

The reason for the recall is that those consumers who may be allergic to nuts may be at risk for an allergic reaction if they have consumed the ice cream, which contains almonds. Although there have not been reports to the FDA or the company of allergic reactions in correlation to the consumption of the ice cream as of yet. Consumers who do not have allergies to nuts may still enjoy, and continue to purchase the Chocolate Marshmallow Premium Ice Cream.

The company believed that the tree nuts were ingredients in only 150 containers of the ice cream, which was exclusively sold in certain stores in Pennsylvania. The product has since been removed from the shelves to contain the problem in the ice cream sold after January 28, 2010.

The ice cream came in a round, rectangular cream-colored paperboard packaging containing 48 ounces of ice cream. The front had farm illustrations and ice cream scoop pictures. The code of the recalled product is “01/18/2011 56/L1”, which could be found on the bottom of the container. All consumers may return the ice cream to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information or questions concerning the ice cream, contact Turkey Hill at 1-800-MY-DAIRY.
