Boston, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) www.fda.gov had announced a product recall in 2009 for the company McNeil Consumer Healthcare for Tylenol, St. Josephs, and Motrin, which one store failed to take it off the shelves and consumers kept buying the over the counter drugs, announced WCVB, February, 11, 2010.
An investigation by Team 5 led to the discovery at the local Chestnut Hill supermarket last week. There have been at least 70 consumers reported getting sick with nausea, diarrhea and vomiting, from the musty and moldy stench coming from the pain relievers. While most of the over the counter medications on the shelves are probably safe, a person contacted NewsCenter 5 after finding one potentially tainted product that he had purchased at the Star Market in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He learned of the product recall and reported it to the manager at the store. The manager said that he would remove the product from the shelves. Team 5 also took a closer look at the products on the Supermarkets shelves and discovered that four more products that were involved in the recall were still available for consumers to purchase.
In a statement, the supermarket said “at Shaw’s and Star Market, the health and safety of our customers is a top priority. Immediately upon learning of this situation, we initiated an investigation into the matter.
