The Clackamas County Sheriff is investigating an Oregon head-on truck crash.
Oregon City, OR—Illegal passing prompted a head-on collision that sent two people to the hospital on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. The violent motor-vehicle collision (MVC) occurred around 7:00 a.m., on Northeast Ardnt Road, just east of Airport Road, as reported by Oregon Live.
The Clackamas County Sheriff reported that a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was speeding eastbound on Northeast Ardnt Road, when the truck tried to illegally pass another vehicle on the right. The truck lost control and veered into oncoming traffic, where it hit a van and two other vehicles. The driver of the Chevy pickup truck, Michael F. Lee Jr., 49, of Canby, was rushed by responding emergency medical services (EMS) teams to OHSU Hospital in Portland for treatment. A 1996 Plymouth Voyager van, who was the first oncoming vehicle, only sustained a “glancing blow on the drivers door.” The unidentified driver of the van was not injured in the collision. The second vehicle, 1988 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was traveling westbound was hit head-on by the Chevy truck. The driver of the Ford, Hector M. Estrada Vargas, 45, of Canby was transported by ambulance to Legacy Meridian Park Hospital in Tualatin for treatment. The third oncoming truck, a 1997 Ford F-350, as also struck on its front-end. The driver was uninjured. Police officials are conducting a full investigation into the crash. Lee was cited for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
