A Trinity Railway Express commuter train accident killed a pedestrian who was on the tracks.

Dallas, TX—A second fatal accident occurred in less than week involving a Trinity Railway Express (TRE) commuter train, which hit and killed a woman on Monday, February 15, 2010. The TRE train fatally struck the pedestrian between Dallas and Fort Worth near the Harry Hines Boulevard and Market Center Boulevard intersection, as reported by WFAA.com.

The TRE train was reportedly traveling westbound when it approached the woman and sounded its horn to warn her. The attempts by the train to warn the woman were not successful, and the train to hit the woman. The impact of the collision threw the woman’s body into the Harry Hines Boulevard and Market Center Boulevard intersection. The victim was not identified, but was reported to be in her mid-50’s. She was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical services (EMS) teams. Out of the 87 passengers and crew aboard the TRE train, no one was reportedly injured. It is unknown why the woman was on the tracks. Police officials are conducting a full investigation into the collision.

Thus far, there have been 11 fatal accidents since the TRE began operation in 1996. Last Wednesday, a man was hit and killed by a TRE train at almost the spot as Monday’s accident.
