MD pedestrian struck, killed by semi truck on I-81

Legal news for Maryland personal injury attorneys –Maryland State police reported to the scene where a semi truck crashed into a pedestrian in Hagerstown MD.

Hagerstown, MD (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A man was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 Tuesday morning, February 23, 2010, according to the Herald-Mail.

Maryland State police reported to the tragic scene of the crash on Interstate 81 and Halfway Boulevard, where a man was fatally struck at 4:31 a.m. Police reported that the male pedestrian had apparently walked in front of a semi truck traveling in the highway. Responding police identified the pedestrian as 22-year-old Anthony Allen McChesney, resident of Boonsboro. He was hit by a United Parcel Service tractor-trailer, driven by 48-year-old David Brian Burkey, resident of Enola, Pennsylvania.

Police found the young mans body on the interstate. He was declared dead at the scene. Burkey reportedly stopped immediately after the fatal collision. Police reported that he remained unharmed in the crash. McChesney had been reportedly wearing all dark clothes at the time of the accident. Police closed the northbound lanes of the Interstate for more than two hours for investigation and cleanup. The lanes were reopened for traffic at 7 a.m. The investigation continues.
