18 wheeler accident attorney alerts- One injured in water treatment plant crash.

Grand Haven Township, MI—A semi-truck became involved in a motor vehicle collision (MVC) with a water treatment plant on Friday morning, February 19, 2010. The crash occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m., nearly sending the big rig into Lake Michigan, according to information provided by WoodTV.com.

A tractor-trailer, driven by 38-year-old Alton Hubbard, was reported westbound on Lake Michigan Drive, en route to Ludington to make a delivery, when he reportedly failed to notice a stop sign at the Lakeshore Drive junction. Hubbard’s 18-wheeler was consequently sent careening into a berm on the side of the Grand Rapids Water Treatment Plant. The rig allegedly traveled approximately 150 yards before coming to a rest upon impact of the facility. Emergency medical services (EMS) crews seemingly responded to the scene to transport Hubbard to an area hospital to be treated for the minor injuries he suffered in the wreck.

Preliminary reports the truck driver allegedly fell asleep while driving, though Hubbard apparently told authorities the crash occurred when he failed to see the stop sign upon coming through the intersection. Reports of a possible fuel spill outside the water treatment plant prompted a HazMat supervisor to respond to the scene, though it was allegedly contained. It was undisclosed if any citations were issued in connection with the 18-wheeler accident as of yet.
