Legal news for Texas construction accident attorneys. A worker was injured, but survived after a drilling rig fell over.
Texas construction accident lawyer alert- OSHA is investigating a workplace accident that injured a worker when a drilling rig fell over.
Austin, TX—A worker was injured Tuesday morning, February 23, 2010 when a drilling rig fell on top of a worker who was operating the heavy piece of machinery. The workplace accident occurred at I-35 near 51st Street in the Home depot parking lot, as reported by KXAN.
The Texas Department of Transportation reported that as workers were cleaning up and gathering materials and equipment upon finishing a job, the operator of the drilling rig tried to move the machinery when the soft ground underneath the rig caused it to topple over. The operator was trapped by the cab of fallen machinery and was quickly freed by responding emergency workers. The operator was rushed by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to University Medical Center Brackenridge for treatment of his injuries. No further details about his injuries or current condition were reported, other than that they were considered “minor.” Officials say the operator was very lucky considering the extensive damage that the cab sustained. The U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov/ are expected to conduct a full investigation into the accident. Officials have not reveled who the worker was employed by when the workplace accident occurred.
