The CPSC alerts product liability attorneys- Arctic Cat snowmobiles have been recalled due to a potential fire hazard.
Pennington County, MN—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov/ and Arctic Cat Inc., of Thief River Falls, Minn. have voluntarily recalled 1,300 Arctic Cat Snowmobiles due to a fire hazard. The recall was announced on Monday, February 23, 2010, as reported by the CPSC.
The U.S. manufactured Arctic Cat snowmobiles can reportedly leak fuel from the fuel pump at the fuel tank mounting screws, which can pose a fire hazard to snowmobile owners and riders. No injuries have been reported to date, even though Arctic Cat has received two reports of fuel leaking from the snowmobile. The voluntary recall includes all Model Year 2010 Arctic Cat 500 Sno Pro models. The model name and number can be found on the side of the seat and on the engine cowling. The snowmobiles were sold nationwide at Arctic Cat dealerships from October 2009 to February 2010, for between $7,800 and $8,200.
Consumers are advised to discontinue use of the snowmobiles immediately, and to contact their local Arctic Cat dealer to schedule a free repair. Registered owners will be directly notified by mail about this recall.
