Carteret, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A construction worker was welding when he was suddenly injured in an explosion that blew the doors of his pickup truck off the hinges, Tuesday, March 2, 2010, according to the Star-Ledger.
Police, fire and medical officials were sent to the scene at the Verizon Wireless data center on Federal Boulevard in Carteret. Fire authorities reported that the worker was doing some welding work when an explosion occurred at 11:31 a.m. The force of the blast blew his pickup truck doors off the hinges, which caused the doors to smash into the worker. The unidentified worker was taken via ambulance to the trauma center at University Hospital in Newark to be treated for his injuries. His condition was not known.
There was no one else injured in the unexplained explosion. Luckily, the unexpected blast did not cause a fire. The cause remains under investigation to determine how the explosion occurred. It was not reported who the workers employer was. It was not known if an official from the Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) had made plans to investigate the construction accident.
