The FAA alerts aviation accident attorneys- A Coast Guard helicopter crashed in the Uinta Mountains.
Salt Lake City, UT—A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crash injured three crewmembers when it went down in the Utah Mountains on Wednesday morning, March 3, 2010 in Wasatch County. The helicopter was reportedly on its way back to Elizabeth City, N.C., after providing security for the Olympics in Vancouver, as reported by BuffaloNews.com.
The U.S. Coast Guard HH-60 helicopter crashed in the Uinta Mountains for unknown reasons around 8:18 a.m. Two of the crewmembers reportedly sustained serious injuries, and another sustained minor injuries. Two others on board were uninjured in the wreck. After the crash, the co-pilot called to report the crash via a cell phone to another Coast Guard helicopter that was flying with the crashed helicopter. Contact with the co-pilot has since been lost after the initial transmissions. Snowmobiles and search crews are currently in the area searching for the wreckage and crew. The military helicopter apparently made a stop in Salt Lake City to refuel and was on its way to Leadville, Colorado to stop again, when the crash occurred. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) http://www.faa.gov/ reportedly has investigators ready to help officials. The search and rescue mission and investigation is currently underway by officials.
