The CPSC alerts product liability attorneys- A California candle company, DayNa Decker, recalled candles over hazards.
Los Angeles, CA—Lumetique Inc., and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov, have voluntarily recalled DayNa Decker Botanika Candles, due to a fire, burn and laceration hazards. The recall was announced by the CPSC on Thursday, March 18, 2010.
The Southern California Candle Company Inc. manufactured candles can unexpectedly flare up, causing the glass container holding the candle to crack, posing fire, burn and laceration hazards to consumers. The DayNa Decker Bontanika brand candles that were sold in 3-, 6-, and 16-ounce glass containers are among the 6,000 candles involved in this recall. The CPSC reported, the words “DayNa Decker and Bacara, Bardou, Clementine, Indigo, Leila, Manzanita, Sierra, Taiga, Violetta, Viva, Yasmin, or Zelia appear on the bottom of the green glass container. Only Botanika candles with batch code 9J3, 9K1, 9L1 or 9L2 are included in the recall. Batch codes are printed on the bottom of the glass container.” The candles were sold nationwide at resorts, spas, gift shops and specialty stores from November 2009 through January 2010 for a price between $30 and $75, depending on the size of the candle. Consumers are being advised to stop using the candles immediately, and to contact Lumetique to receive a full credit toward the purchase of another DayNa Decker product.
