Children’s sweaters sold at Burlington Coat Factory center of recall.
News for product liability attorneys – Children’s sweaters with brand names Kani Gold and Road Block being recalled.
Washington, DC (www.NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – Haselson International Trading Inc., of New York, NY, and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov, have issued a recall for hooded sweatshirts with drawstrings under the brand names of Kani Gold and Road Block, as reported by the CPSC.
The sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood, which can lead to strangulation and entanglement of children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines for production of upper body garments to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled in the neck and waist drawstrings. These guidelines were voluntarily incorporated into an industry standard in 1997.
Approximately 23,000 units are involved in the recall. The sweatshirts were manufactured in Indonesia, Egypt, China, Pakistan and Korea and were being sold at Burling Coat Factory stores nationwide from July 2006 to September 2009. They retailed between $6 and $30 and were sold in sizes four through seven and small and medium.
Haselson International Trading and CPSC recommend immediately removing the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard or returning the tops to Burlington Coat Factory or Haselson for a full refund.
