Texas aviation accident attorneys alert- A pontoon plane crash on Lewisville Lake killed a Dallas woman.

Dallas, TX—A Thursday, March 18, 2010 small plane crash killed a Dallas woman, when the float plane she was riding in flipped while trying to land on Lewisville Lake. The pontoon plane overturned around 4:30 p.m., on Lewisville Lake near the Stewart Peninsula Golf Course in The Colony, as reported by the Star-Telegram and NBC affiliate Dallas-Fort Worth.

When rescue teams arrived at the scene, only the twin pontoons of the plane were visible above the surface. Kristin Kolby, 41, a passenger in the plane, was found unresponsive inside the overturned plane. She was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical professionals. The pilot, Ken Gadney, 54, survived the violent wreck. Gadney was airlifted to Parkland Hospital in an unknown condition. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) http://www.faa.gov/ reported that “The landing wheels were down on the pontoon plane in the lake. Wheels would be necessary for take off or landing on land, but experts say it could be dangerous to land a pontoon boat on a lake with the wheels down.” FAA records show Gadney as the registered owner of the aircraft, which boasts no blemishes. Kolby was apparently an employee of Gadney’s, who is the president of at Opti-Sky, a company based at the Addison Airport. Gadney was given a standard drug and alcohol test at the hospital. As of Friday, he was listed in good condition. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) http://www.ntsb.gov/ is investigating the fatal accident.
