18 wheeler accident lawyer alerts- OSHA issued citations with regards to fatal crash on Interstate 70.

Clark County, OH—A tragic two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle resulted in the death of a motorist on Sunday, March 21, 2010. The driver of the 18-wheeler involved was issued citations with regards to the fatal Harmony Township collision, according to information provided by WHIOTV.com.

Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) investigators are looking into an accident in which a car, driven by 39-year-old Thomas Callaway, smashed into the back of a big rig, which was reportedly parked along the side of Interstate 70. The semi-truck, driven by 49-year-old Senad Basic, allegedly pulled off to the side of I-70 after hitting a bird. Basic was apparently assessing his vehicle for any damages caused by the bird-semi collision as Callaway’s vehicle was merging onto the highway. Callaway, who was seemingly unable to avoid a collision with the stopped 18-wheeler, rear-ended the trailer at approximately 2:20 p.m. His vehicle reportedly burst into flames on impact.

Responding emergency medical services (EMS) professionals seemingly pronounced Calloway dead at the scene. Preliminary reports indicated Callaway had been wearing a seatbelt when his vehicle struck the back of the truck. Basic did not suffer any injuries in the collision but was cited for “prohibitions from parking on the highway and vehicular manslaughter”. Toxicology results are pending as accident investigations continue.
