CPSC recalls girls’ camouflage jackets that were sold at Burlington Coat Factory for strangulation hazard.

Los Angeles, CA—Bubblegum USA and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov/ have jointly announced a voluntary recall of girls’ hooded jackets with drawstrings. About 900 units were recalled on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, which advises parents to stop using the jackets immediately, as reported by the CPSC.

Although no injuries and/or incidents have been reported concerning the jackets, they were recalled because the drawstring through the hood can pose a strangulation hazard to children. The recall involved the camouflage design with the grey hood jackets for girls. Bubblegum USA and style number GS9548N-521G HZZ are printed on a tag inside the jacket. The jackets were sold in girls’ sizes 7 through 16. The China-manufactured jackets were sold at Burlington Coat Factory stores nationwide from August 2006 through September 2009 for between $15 and $25.

Consumers who have purchased the jackets are advised to immediately remove the drawstring to eliminate the strangulation risk. A full refund can be obtained by returning the jacket to either Bubblegum USA or Burlington Coat Factory.
