A dental surgeon with a history of illegal drug use is being sued for drugging and raping woman.
Rutland, Vermont (www.NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A Rutland dental surgeon is facing a battery lawsuit that seeks compensatory and punitive damages. According to the New York woman who filed the suit, Dr. Peter B. Gray allegedly drugged and raped her in his Dorset home in April 2009, as reported by the Rutland Herald.
The suit claims that Dorset and the victim met through and online dating site on April 17, 2009 and later met at the Dorset Inn on April 23. They then went to Gray’s home in Dorset where he gave her a drink he prepared for her. The woman believes it contained a sedative that impaired her consciousness. The suit says he had sex with her despite her objections.
Gray is being sued for battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy.
Dr. Gray was reprimanded in 2005 and 2007, and had his license temporarily revoked for illegally using drugs. He has been reprimanded for giving nitrous oxide to a patient after hours for non-medical reasons, using cocaine in his office and injecting himself twice with an opiate analgesic that he did not have a prescription for.
In 2009, Gray entered into an agreement with the federal government that included the payment of a $50,000 fine. Gray denied the charges of illegal drug use, but consented to the settlement in order to avoid litigation.
Gray denies any wrongdoing in this case.
