NW Miami-Dade, FL—A man was arrested in connection with a traffic collision that caused a pedestrian to suffer fatal injuries on Sunday, March 28, 2010. The fatal crash, which involved a bus, occurred in Northwest Miami-Dade, Florida, according to information provided by CBS4.com.

Authorities from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) allegedly stated that at approximately 8 p.m., an unidentified pedestrian was crossing the road at the junction of Northwest 52nd Street and 22nd Avenue, just as a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection. A passenger car reportedly struck a bus, causing it to swerve in the roadway and strike the male pedestrian. The man was apparently became pinned underneath the bus after initial impact.

Although emergency medical services (EMS) personnel seemingly responded to the intersection after the crash, the injured pedestrian unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene. It was not reported whether the driver of the car or bus were hurt in the chain-reaction accident. According to witness Jerome Andrews, “I’m petrified that this happened… I don’t know who this person is but it’s sad that this happened.”

The driver of the car involved in the deadly wreck was apparently arrested Monday afternoon and faces charges of vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter and careless driving with regard to the incident. MDPD officials have not released the fatally injured pedestrians name, pending the notification of next of kin.
