Montana Highway Patrol alert- A Chevy pickup truck crash killed five teens by blunt force trauma near Canyon Ferry Lake.
Helena, MT—Five Helena teenagers were tragically killed by blunt force trauma in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday morning, March 28, 2010. The teens were riding in a pickup truck when they veered off the road near Canyon Ferry Lake on southbound Keir Road, as reported by the Great Falls Tribune.
The Montana Highway Patrol reported a 1996 Chevy pickup truck was traveling south on Keir Road when the teens couldnt round a curve and continued straight into an embankment. The teens were identified as 18-year-old Andre D. Hartwig of East Helena, 18-year-old Beau A. Miller-Lopane of East Helena, 18-year-old Eric A. Prudhomme of Helena, 18-year-old Chanda Scarber of Helena and 15-year-old Danielle R. Prudhomme of Helena. Eric and Danielle Prudhomme were siblings. All five of the teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency crews. The Lewis and Clark County Coroner stated they all died from blunt force trauma due to the impact of the violent crash. No one was ejected from the truck, even though they all were not wearing seatbelts. Emergency crews were at the scene from 1:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m.
Police officials stated that a combination of alcohol and speed were likely causes for the wreck. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the truck. The crash is still under investigation.
