North Carolina criminal attorney alerts- A man murdered his family and then commited suicide; Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating.

Charlotte, NC—A father forced his daughter to keep quiet with regard to the murder of her stepmother and two half-sisters, threatening that if she spoke of the tragic slaying, he would kill her and her 2-year-old brother as well. While fear kept the child silent for two weeks, police responded to the household upon receiving notification that the stepmother’s uncle was unaware of her whereabouts, according to information provided by MSNBC.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) investigators allegedly responded to Kenneth Jermaine Chapman’s home, where upon their arrival Chapman sent his 10-year-old daughter and 2-year-old half-brother outside. Chapman reportedly went upstairs, shooting at police officials from the top of the stairwell. When authorities managed to get upstairs, they apparently found Chapman had commited suicide. They also eventually discovered the bodies of his wife’s daughter, Na’Jhae Parker and the couple’s 13-month-old baby, Nakyiah Jael Chapman, behind the doors of a locked room. The body of Chapman’s wife, 34-year-old Nateesha Chapman, was reportedly found in the couple’s previous apartment. They had seemingly moved out of the apartment a few weeks prior to the discovery of the horrifying murders.

With regard to the unidentified 10-year-old girl who survived, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Capt. Paul Zinkann reportedly stated, “Her bravery and composure was truly remarkable… She, her little brother are with family members and are being cared for now.” Investigators are looking into what might have prompted Kenneth Chapman to murder his family as well as why he attempted to hide the incident as if it had never occurred. The probe is expected to be underway.
